RIVERS STATE GOV. SIMINIALAYI FUBARA’S LED EXECUTIVE APPROVES N800BN BUDGET FOR 2024

 Amidst lingering political crises in the over 6-months Government of Sir Siminialayi Fubara, the 5th State Executive Council meeting held on Monday 11th of December, 2023 approved estimated budget of Eight Hundred Billion Naira N800B as that state 2024 appropriation. The main thrust of the Budget christened Budget of renewed Hope, Consolidation and Continuity” has infrastructure, Education, health and security as top priorities.

The Executive Council deliberated on the Midterm economic Expenditure framework which took into cognisance the prevailing economic situation with projections before going into main deliberations of the 2024 Budgetary allocations of revenue and estimated appropriation of funds for projects that will usher in better living standard for the good people of Rivers state. 

The Rivers State Commissioner for Information and Communications, Warisenibo Joseph Johnson after the Council meeting told journalists at Government House Port Harcourt that “N412bn was projected for capital expenditure, while recurrent expenditure has N361bn and N21b as reserve.”

In a Press statement made available by Senior Special assistant to the Governor on Media Boniface Onyedi stated that the Secretary to the Rivers State Government (SSG), Dr. Tammy Danagogo said the budget estimate that has been approved by the council is aimed at giving Rivers people a renewed hope that will guarantee the continual harvest of projects and human capital development.

The 5th Executive Council Meeting happened to have come outside the regular Wednedays weekly Executive Council meetings as a result of the ongoing political quagmire existing between the followers of the former Rivers state Governor Wike and the incumbent Governor Siminialayi Fubara. 27 PDP members on Monday morning sat at the Chambers of Rivers state House of assembly Moscow road and declared themselves as having defected to All Progressives Congress APC.
