Rivers Women Reaffirm Loyalty to Gov. Fubara, Rally for Peace, Unity and Economic Empowerment

Women under the umbrella of Rivers Women Unite for SIM (RWUS) have reaffirmed their unwavering support for Rivers State Governor, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, while renewing their commitment to promoting peace, unity and economic empowerment as essential pillars for sustainable development in the state.
The declaration was made during the group’s monthly prayer meeting held on Thursday, July 30, at the Ecumenical Centre, Port Harcourt, where women drawn from the 23 local government areas of Rivers State gathered in a solemn atmosphere of worship and intercession to pray for enduring peace, political stability and continued progress in Rivers State and Nigeria.
Addressing the gathering, Amaopuorubo Sotonye Toby Fulton urged the women to remain steadfast in prayer, stressing that their collective prayers had continued to contribute significantly to preventing violence, preserving peace and fostering unity across the state. She noted that beyond promoting harmony, the regular prayer meetings had also strengthened the spiritual lives of members, inspired hope and attracted divine blessings through their unwavering faith and commitment to seeking God’s intervention.
She reaffirmed that, as loyal supporters of Governor Siminalayi Fubara, the women would continue to identify with and support the governor’s political vision, leadership and developmental agenda aimed at advancing the growth and prosperity of Rivers State.
The women also renewed their determination to improve their economic well-being through skills acquisition, entrepreneurship and trade enhancement programmes. They described the commencement of the initiative as a strategic investment in empowering women, improving family livelihoods, encouraging financial independence and creating sustainable economic opportunities across Rivers State and beyond.
Speaking on the theme, “Praise, Purpose, Pursuit and Productivity,” Dr. (Mrs.) Queen Karibi Botoye encouraged the women not to lose hope regardless of life’s challenges, reminding them that every difficult season eventually gives way to victory through faith in God.
According to her, “As mere mortals, what may appear to us as the end is only a bend before God Almighty. A bend is never an end, just as there is always light at the end of the tunnel.” She urged the women to remain hopeful, purposeful, resilient and steadfast in their pursuit of excellence and service to humanity.
Also speaking, Barr. (Mrs.) Adata Bio-Briggs reaffirmed the group’s commitment to equipping women with practical vocational skills capable of promoting economic prosperity, self-reliance, entrepreneurship and sustainable community development throughout the 23 local government areas of Rivers State.
She commended members for their enthusiastic participation in the recent skills acquisition and empowerment programme, which attracted more than 780 participants from all 23 local government areas of the state and neighbouring communities. She described the programme as a major milestone in the group’s efforts to equip women with productive skills that will enhance family incomes, reduce unemployment and contribute meaningfully to the state’s socio-economic development.
Participants expressed confidence that through sustained unity, fervent prayers and continuous investment in human capacity development, women would continue to play a leading role in promoting peace, strengthening families, supporting good governance and accelerating the overall development of Rivers State.
The meeting ended with renewed optimism and a collective resolve to remain united in faith, committed to service and dedicated to building a more peaceful, prosperous and inclusive Rivers State for present and future generations.
