The Ikeduru Legislative Council has unanimously passed a vote of absolute confidence in the Governor of Imo State, His Excellency Distinguished Senator Hope Uzodimma, CON, and the Member representing Mbaitoli/Ikeduru Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. Engr. Akarachi Amadi, in recognition of their outstanding leadership, developmental achievements, and people-oriented governance.
The resolution was adopted during the Council’s plenary session held on Tuesday, July 28, 2026, at the Legislative Council Headquarters, Iho, under the chairmanship of the Leader of the Council, Rt. Hon. Samuel Nwokeocha.

The lawmakers said their decision was informed by Governor Uzodimma’s extensive infrastructure renewal across Imo State and Hon. Akarachi Amadi’s remarkable legislative performance, grassroots empowerment programmes, and visible constituency representation.
Moving the motion, the Councillor representing Ngugo/Ikembara Ward, Hon. Kingsley Asamonye, described Hon. Amadi as “a responsive and impactful legislator whose presence is felt in every community in Mbaike.”
According to the Council, the federal lawmaker has sponsored and co-sponsored several bills and motions in the 10th House of Representatives aimed at promoting employment, youth development, improved electricity supply, rural infrastructure, and community development. His periodic constituency briefings and oversight activities were equally praised as evidence of transparency, accountability, and responsive representation.
The Council also applauded Hon. Amadi’s ongoing empowerment programme, describing it as unprecedented in the history of the constituency. Lawmakers disclosed that empowerment materials have already been distributed to almost all the 63 autonomous communities in the Mbaitoli/Ikeduru Federal Constituency, while the remaining communities are expected to receive theirs before the end of August 2026.
Items distributed include 500KVA transformers, solar-powered street lights, mini buses, tricycles, motorcycles, deep freezers, power generators, sewing machines, grinding machines, and farm implements to enhance electricity supply, security, transportation, skills acquisition, entrepreneurship, women’s empowerment, youth employment, and agricultural productivity.
The Legislative Council also passed a separate vote of absolute confidence in Governor Hope Uzodimma for what members described as his transformational leadership and infrastructure revolution across Imo State.

The lawmakers specifically commended the rehabilitation of the Owerri–Okigwe Federal Road through Ekemele, which has restored smooth movement of people and goods between Ikeduru and neighbouring local government areas after decades of neglect. They noted that the project has significantly improved economic activities and eased transportation challenges for residents.
Other projects acknowledged by the Council include the completion and commissioning of the Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu International Conference Centre (EIICC), the Orashi Electricity Power Plant, ongoing rural road rehabilitation, renovation of healthcare centres and schools, implementation of the Imo State Health Insurance Scheme, payment of pension arrears, and the establishment of the Imo Digital Economy City, which the lawmakers said has created opportunities for young people and investors.
Following deliberations, the Council resolved to reaffirm its confidence in Governor Hope Uzodimma and Hon. Engr. Akarachi Amadi, urging residents of Mbaitoli and Ikeduru to continue supporting both leaders in order to attract additional development projects to the constituency. Councillors were also directed to monitor the effective utilization and maintenance of all empowerment materials distributed to their respective communities.
Speaking after the plenary, the Leader of the Council, Rt. Hon. Samuel Nwokeocha, said the resolution reflected the genuine feelings of the people.
“This decision is based on performance and tangible results, not politics. Our people can see ongoing infrastructure development, improved electricity supply, solar street lights, community empowerment, and responsive representation. These achievements deserve recognition, and that is why the Council unanimously passed this vote of absolute confidence.”
The resolution marks one of the strongest public endorsements by the Ikeduru Legislative Council of both the administration of Governor Hope Uzodimma and the representation of Hon. Engr. Akarachi Amadi in the National Assembly.
