Eze Martin Chieze Amaku blesses Mbaitoli/Ikeduru lawmaker, provides $1,000 logistics support as Amadi showcases constituency empowerment, education and skills-development initiatives

The era of political consultation by political office seekers took a dramatic turn on Saturday, August 15, 2026, when the traditional ruler of Iho Dimeze Autonomous Community in Ikeduru Local Government Area of Imo State, Eze (Dr.) Martin Chieze Amaku, JP, Dimeze II of Iho Dimeze Ancient Kingdom, received the member representing Mbaitoli/Ikeduru Federal Constituency in the 10th National Assembly, Rt. Hon. Engr. Akarachi Etinosa Amadi, during his consultation visit ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The visit assumed a traditional and symbolic dimension when the Iho Dimeze monarch blessed Amadi and members of his entourage and presented the federal lawmaker with US$1,000 in cash as logistics support for his political consultation tour.
The gesture was described as resembling that of a father blessing and supporting a son embarking on an important journey, underscoring the cordial relationship between the traditional institution and the visiting federal lawmaker.
Amadi, who is seeking re-election to the House of Representatives on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC), used the occasion to interface with the people of Iho Dimeze and highlight his constituency interventions in infrastructure, education, youth empowerment, entrepreneurship and human-capital development.
The lawmaker’s constituency empowerment programme has extended beyond a single community, with interventions reportedly spread across the 63 autonomous communities that make up the Mbaitoli/Ikeduru Federal Constituency, popularly known as Mbaike. In April 2026, Amadi unveiled a major empowerment package involving cash support, electricity transformers, vehicles, agricultural equipment and business-support materials. Reports said beneficiaries included youths, women, farmers, traders and community leaders.
Among the items distributed were 500KVA electricity transformers, minibuses, Sienna vehicles, motorcycles, tricycles, tractors, sewing machines, grinding machines, generators, deep freezers, fertilisers and other agricultural and small-business equipment. His official constituency account also reported the distribution of more than 4,500 solar-powered lights and cash support to beneficiaries across the autonomous communities.
The intervention was not limited to physical empowerment materials. Education has also featured prominently in Amadi’s constituency programme.
In 2024, the lawmaker announced that he had paid the JAMB registration fees for 1,173 students from the constituency, enabling them to participate in the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME). He also announced scholarships for 114 indigent students, comprising 11 pupils from Iho Comprehensive School, 22 students from Umuahi Model Secondary School, Umuahi Obi-Mbieri, and 81 students from Mbaitoli/Ikeduru who participated in the free JAMB registration programme and scored 200 or above.
The educational intervention has continued. In February 2026, Amadi’s official platform announced the commencement of another free JAMB registration programme for students of Mbaitoli/Ikeduru Federal Constituency, with the stated objective of removing financial barriers that could prevent qualified young people from sitting for the UTME.
There has also been a specific focus on the girl-child. In March 2025, Amadi announced scholarships and free JAMB registration for female students as part of an International Women’s Day initiative, with his office reporting that hundreds of girls were brought into the programme.
Beyond scholarships and examination support, the lawmaker’s constituency agenda has incorporated skills acquisition and vocational development. His publicly stated legislative and constituency plans include skills-acquisition initiatives designed to equip young people with practical competencies and entrepreneurial capacity. His 2026 constituency interventions have included sewing machines, grinding machines, agricultural equipment and other business-support tools intended to help beneficiaries establish or expand small enterprises.
Amadi has also outlined plans for educational infrastructure and skills development, including classroom construction, educational materials and smart-school initiatives incorporating skills-acquisition programmes. In a 2026 interview, he said the constituency was also working on primary healthcare facilities, classroom blocks and skills-acquisition programmes intended to prepare young people not only for employment but also for entrepreneurship and job creation.
The latest empowerment programme therefore represents an expansion of an approach that combines infrastructure, direct economic empowerment, education, scholarships, examination support, vocational skills and community development.
For the people of Iho Dimeze, the August 15 consultation provided an opportunity to receive their federal representative and witness the interaction between the traditional institution and a political office holder seeking another mandate.
The reported presentation of the $1,000 logistics support by Eze Martin Chieze Amaku gave the consultation an additional symbolic significance, with the monarch’s blessing portraying the political journey as one requiring wisdom, guidance and the goodwill of the traditional institution.
Amadi’s visit to Iho Dimeze consequently combined political consultation with constituency engagement, coming against the backdrop of his administration of empowerment initiatives that have included electricity transformers, vehicles, agricultural equipment, business tools, scholarships, free JAMB/UTME registration, girl-child educational support and skills-acquisition programmes across Mbaitoli/Ikeduru Federal Constituency.
The political significance of the visit is therefore unmistakable as the 2027 electoral cycle approaches and the incumbent federal lawmaker seeks to consolidate his representation in the Green Chamber.
