BREAKING: WAEC RELEASES 2026 WASSCE RESULTS, ENDS MONTHS OF ANXIETY FOR CANDIDATES

Relief and excitement swept across thousands of homes on Wednesday as the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) officially released the results of the 2026 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) for School Candidates.
The announcement brings to an end months of anxious anticipation for candidates, parents, teachers and school administrators across Nigeria and other member countries of the West African Examinations Council who participated in this year’s examination.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, August 5, 2026, WAEC confirmed that candidates can now access their results through the Council’s official result-checking portal at www.waecdirect.org using their examination number, valid result-checking PIN and serial number.
The Council advised candidates who have misplaced or exhausted their result-checking details to obtain new checker PINs and serial numbers through the appropriate channels before attempting to access their results online. Candidates were also urged to ensure that the information entered on the portal is accurate to avoid errors during the verification process.
The release of the results marks another significant milestone in the academic journey of thousands of final-year secondary school students. For many candidates, the results will determine their eligibility for admission into universities, polytechnics, colleges of education and other tertiary institutions, while others will rely on them for employment opportunities and scholarship applications.
Education stakeholders have welcomed the timely release of the results, noting that it will enable admission processes for the 2026/2027 academic session to commence without unnecessary delays. Parents and guardians have also expressed optimism that candidates who performed well will secure placements in their preferred institutions.
WAEC encouraged candidates to print or download their result slips immediately after checking their results and keep them safely for future academic and official purposes. The Council further advised anyone experiencing difficulties with the online portal to seek assistance from their respective schools or visit the nearest WAEC office for prompt support.
With the release of the 2026 WASSCE results, attention is now expected to shift to admission exercises by tertiary institutions across the country, as successful candidates begin the next phase of their educational pursuits.
