LADY VALERIE FUBARA LEADS RIVERS WOMEN IN EMPOWERING FITNESS DRIVE ACROSS 23 LGAS

First Lady of Rivers State, Lady Valerie Fubara, inspires women from all 23 local government areas to embrace wellness, fitness, and togetherness at the Ecumenical Centre Port Harcourt City Rivers State.

In a remarkable show of unity and empowerment, the women of Rivers State converged at the Ecumenical Centre, Port Harcourt, on Thursday, 20th November 2025, for a state-wide fitness initiative spearheaded by High Chief Sotonye Toby-Fulton, founder of Rivers Women Unite for SIM (RWUS). The exercise session, attended by women representing all 23 Local Government Areas, was a vibrant prelude to the upcoming 2025 Women Converge billed to take place on Wednesday 26th of November 2025 at the main auditorium of the Alfred Diete-Spiff Sports Complex Port Harcourt City Rivers State.

At the heart of the event was the First Lady of Rivers State, Lady Valerie Fubara, who led by example, demonstrating various fitness routines and walk-out exercises. Addressing the assembled women, Lady Fubara emphasized the inseparable link between physical health and spiritual well-being

“The most important thing is to be healthy, knowing that a healthy heart brings a healthy life,” she said. The First Lady urged women of all ages to embrace regular exercise, stressing that wellness is a lifelong journey.

“Exercise is essential for everyone, regardless of age. Even in your 70s and 80s, maintaining physical activity keeps you flourishing in health. And if you don’t know how to start, walking alone is a great beginning,” she encouraged.

The session, designed to meet the diverse fitness levels of the participants, highlighted the values of togetherness and mutual support. Lady Fubara reminded the women that their collective journey towards health was not about competition but about living better lives with faith and perseverance.

“While some exercises may be challenging, we’ve tailored our sessions to suit individual needs. As a community, we’ll support one another. Our goal is simple: a healthy life. A sound heart is the foundation of a healthy life, and it’s never too late to start,” she added.

Participants engaged enthusiastically in various fitness routines under the theme: “A Sound Heart is Life to the Body”, sharing in the energy and camaraderie of a movement that blends health, unity, and spiritual grounding.

The event marked not only a celebration of wellness but also a testament to the growing culture of female empowerment in Rivers State, championed by women like High Chief Sotonye Toby-Fulton and Lady Valerie Fubara.
