KAMSI NWOSU-DAMIAN NAMED RRAC DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK AFTER DOMINANT DISPLAY AS CALLS GROW FOR SUPER FALCONS INVITATION

Nigerian-born defender Kamsi Nwosu-Damian has been named RRAC Women’s Soccer Defensive Player of the Week after a dominant display for Louisiana Christian University. The senior scored the game-winner on her father’s 60th birthday as the Wildcats recorded two emphatic shutouts, prompting growing calls for a Super Falcons invitation.
Nwosu-Damian was a disruptive and physical force at the heart of the Wildcats’ back line. LCU’s opponents managed just six shots on goal across the week, with the defender playing a central role in the team’s defensive solidity. She also found the net herself, scoring the opening goal that proved to be the match-winner against Texas College on Saturday. The Wildcats defeated the University of the Southwest 8-0 and Texas College 11-0.
The victory goal against Texas College carried special personal significance. It came as the family celebrated the 60th birthday of her father, Mr. Obinna Shawn Nwosu Damian, with his only daughter providing the perfect gift on the field. Kamsi is the youngest of three children and the only girl among two older brothers, born to Mr. Nwosu Damian and his wife, Uju Nwosu-Damian, of Umuakoli in the Urualla Clan of Ideato North Local Government Area, Imo State.
A British-born Nigerian, Nwosu-Damian is the first professional female soccer player from Urualla. She is currently in her third season with Louisiana Christian University in Louisiana, USA, having previously played for Oklahoma Wesleyan before transferring to the Wildcats. She is listed as being from London, England.
Louisiana Christian currently leads the conference with a 2-0 record in RRAC play and stands at 5-2-1 overall.
Nwosu-Damian’s ability to anchor a defence while also contributing goals and exploiting opposition weaknesses marks her out as one of the standout female footballers in North American collegiate ranks. Nigeria’s Super Falcons are in clear need of such a strong, versatile defensive presence. With the national team facing the natural ageing of some current players and the ongoing need to refresh the squad from the Falconets and other age-grade pipelines, the Nigerian Football Federation should seriously consider extending an invitation to Nwosu-Damian. Her combination of defensive mastery, physicality and attacking contribution would offer valuable depth and quality to the senior women’s side.
