IHO DIMEZE MONARCH CONGRATULATES GOVERNOR HOPE UZODIMMA FOR IMO@50 AS 3R ADMINISTRATION DELIVERS TRANSFORMATIVE DEVELOPMENT ACROSS IMO STATE
By Emeka Amaefula
As Imo State marks its Golden Jubilee—fifty remarkable years of creation, resilience, and collective aspiration—the celebration rises beyond festivity into a moment of deep reflection on leadership, vision, and progress. This historic milestone finds the State confidently stepping into a new era under the purposeful stewardship of His Excellency, Distinguished Senator Hope Uzodimma, whose 3R Development Mantra of Reconstruction, Rehabilitation, and Recovery has steadily redefined governance and development across Imo State.

On behalf of the entire Iho Dimeze Ancient Kingdom in Ikeduru Local Government Area, His Royal Majesty, Eze (Dr.) Martin Chieze Amaku, Dimeze II, has extended warm and heartfelt congratulations to the Executive Governor of Imo State on the auspicious occasion of the State’s 50th anniversary.
According to the revered monarch, the Golden Jubilee represents a defining chapter in Imo’s history—one characterized by renewed public confidence, restored civic pride, and visible developmental progress driven by people-centred leadership.
Governor Uzodimma’s administration has distinguished itself through far-reaching and measurable interventions, particularly in infrastructure, where improved connectivity has become a clear hallmark of governance.
Across the State, over 120 strategic roads have been constructed or rehabilitated, reopening economic corridors and easing the daily lives of citizens. From the critical Owerri–Orlu and Owerri–Okigwe roads to the Iho Dimeze–Ekemele–Akabo road, long-neglected communities have witnessed tangible transformation. The iconic Assumpta Flyover stands as a powerful symbol of urban renewal, while landmark projects such as the Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu International Conference Centre in Owerri and the Government House Annex in Eziachi, Orlu, reflect a renewed commitment to functional governance and world-class public infrastructure.

The administration’s resolve to strengthen human capital development has equally found expression in education and healthcare. The establishment of the Imo State University Engineering Campus in Onuimo, the rehabilitation of K.O. Mbadiwe University in Ogboko, the elevation of Alvan Ikoku Federal University of Education in Owerri, and the development of the University of Agriculture and Environmental Sciences in Umuagwo have collectively expanded access to quality and specialized education. In the health sector, the upgrade of the Federal Medical Centre, Owerri, to the Federal University of Technology Teaching Hospital (FUTTH) marks a major leap in tertiary healthcare delivery, medical training, and research within the State.
Equally noteworthy is the administration’s bold push toward economic revitalization and digital transformation. The Imo Digital City Project has positioned the State as an emerging force in Nigeria’s digital economy, while the Light Up Imo Electricity Project continues to enhance security, nightlife, and commercial activity. Environmental and economic rejuvenation initiatives, including the dredging of Oguta Lake and the Orashi River, have reopened vital waterways for tourism and commerce.

Once-moribund state assets such as Adapalm Nigeria Limited in Ohaji/Egbema and Avutu Poultry in Obowu have been revived, restoring jobs and confidence in public enterprise. Through the SkillUp Imo Programme, over 50,000 youths have already been trained in digital and entrepreneurial skills, with the Imo Digital City initiative projected to create more than 300,000 digital jobs—an enduring investment in the future of Imo’s young population.
Taken together, these achievements stand as lasting legacies of enlightened leadership and a clear testament to Governor Uzodimma’s unwavering commitment to rebuilding Imo State into a centre of infrastructure excellence, innovation, economic opportunity, and inclusive growth. Beyond concrete projects, they reflect lives improved, communities reconnected, and hope renewed across the State.
As Imo State celebrates fifty years of existence, His Royal Majesty, Eze (Dr.) Martin Chieze Amaku, Dimeze II, offers prayers for divine wisdom, strength, and grace upon the Governor, that he may continue to steer the State toward greater peace, unity, and sustainable development. The Golden Jubilee, he affirms, is not merely a celebration of the past, but a confident declaration of a future being steadily secured.
Congratulations to Imo State at 50.
