PEOPLES DEMOCRATIC PARTY ELECTS ATIKU ABUBAKAR ITS 2023 PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDATE
The Peoples Democratic Party-PDP had conducted its Presidential Primary election which was held at Abuja with Alhaji Atiku Abubakar coming top with 371 votes with Rivers state Governor Wike coming closer with 237 votes cast at the end of the ballot last count. The impressive presidential primary election had former Senate President retired Major General David Mark as Chairman of the National Presidential Primary Election Committee with Senator Douye Diri Governor of Bayelsa state as his Deputy.
The South- South Zonal Women leader High Chief Dr. (Mrs.) Nice Alamieyeseigha congratulated His Excellency Atiku Abubakar for a victory well deserved as she pledged to continue mobilizing support for the PDP Presidential Flag bearer, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar especially in the February 2023 Presidential Election.
The result which was declared at the venue of the convention has the following outcome: total number of delegates remained 767 while total votes cast was 763 as 12 void votes were recorded. The only female contestant Tari Diana Oliver scored one vote, Samuel OHUABUNWA scored one vote, Pius Anyim had 14 votes, Udom Emmanuel had 38 votes, Bala Mohammed scored 20 votes, Bukola Saraki scored 7-votes while Nyesom Wike scored 237 as Alhaji Atiku Abubakar scored 371 votes to take the lead as the duly elected standard bearer of PDP for the forth coming 2023 Presidential Election.
The Sokoto state Governor and former Speaker Federal House of Representatives Aminu Tambuwal had stepped down from the contest while he urged his supporters among the delegates to give their votes to Alhaji Atiku Abubakar who eventually won.
