NORTHERN AND SOUTHERN GROUPS CALL FOR OSITA IZUNASO FOR SENATE PRESIDENT, ENGAGED IN NATIONAL PEACE WALK FOR PRESIDENT ELECT ASIWAJU AHMED TINUBU IN ABUJA.
There has been national agitation for credible leadership of the 10th National Assembly billed to be inaugurated on June 13th, 2023. Thus, few days to the inauguration of a new Government in Nigeria come 29th of May, 2023, a coalition of Southern and Northern organisations staged a Peace Walk For President- Elect Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Thursday 4th of May, 2023 which took off from the Abuja Fountain Garden, currently hosting the Tinubu Handout programme by the Tinubu Support Group. The group marched through Wuse 2 to the APC National Secretariat in Federal Capital Territory FCT Abuja where they handed over the ‘Peace Note’ to the party’s National Chairman Distinguished senator Abdullahi Adamu as they called for equity, fairness and peace as panacea for a united Nation and inclusiveness to consolidate on Nigeria’s Democratic process.
The Convener of the groups Dr. Ahmed B. Ahmed of the Northern Leaders during the Walk for Peace March, spoke on the need of the incoming administration to Zone the Senate President to the South Eastern Nigeria which he said will give them a sense of belonging and inclusion to the current Nigeria Project. Another Co-convener of the Peace Walk For Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu who doubles as the National Secretary of the Coalition and member Emerging Leaders Council Honourable Uzoka Chukwuemeka when interviewed on the side-line of the Walk For Peace For Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu said that zoning the Senate President to the South East will eliminate the consistent agitation against their exclusion from partaking in the governance which has alienated the zone. He noted that if Senator Izunaso emerges as Senate President it will enable them to participate effectively and contribute in Nation building especially when the Senate President is not given to one with EFCC pending cases that will distract the incoming administration knowing that such a public officer does not have immunity protecting him from prosecution.
He called on President-Elect, Tinubu to make use of the wealth of knowledge of Senator Osita Izunaso as he works with him as the 10th National Assembly Senate President of South East extraction which will foster the development needed in this dispensation and create healthy synergy required for the success of the incoming administration. On the other hand, Comrade Ebi Zuofa who is President of the Unemployed Youth Association of Nigeria stated that the new Nigeria is possible only when the incoming administration sincerely look into the challenges of unemployment and address it squarely. He admonished the leaders to have sincerity of purpose and on this shall the Nation’s glory emerge. Hon. Eric Nzekwe in his remark called on the unification of all the zones by including them in the scheme of things in this administration. He stated that the South East will be comfortable with a Senate President of Distinguished Senator Osita Izunaso who will raise the bar in the Senate Leadership in relationship with other organs of Government and contribute in the desired expectation of the electorate. The walk ended by the presentation of the ” Peoples Notes “to the office of the APC chairman.
Distinguished senator Izunaso it was gathered is eminently qualified to emerge as Senate President of the 10th National Assembly NASS, given the facts that his home state Imo, has great support for President Elect and Imo state is an APC state with tremendous loyalty for Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu an advantage other aspirant to the position do not have.
