G-5 PDP GOVERNORS HEAD TO MINNA, SET TO SETTLE RIFT WITH PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDATE ATIKU ABUBAKAR
The stage for final reconciliation of the warring groups in Peoples Democratic Party-PDP has been set as the emissary organized by former Military President of Nigeria, General Ibrahim Badamosi Babangida had played host to Atiku Abubakar team at his Hill Top mansion in Minna, capital of Niger state on Friday 11th of November, 2022 while reaching out to G-5 Governors group as well. This is a prelude to the welcoming of G-5 PDP Governors at the palatial mansion of General IBB at Minna any moment from now. The Ear Witness reporter gathered that General Ibrahim Babangida took it upon himself for the unity of the country to wedge the political battle existing between the presidential candidate of PDP, Atiku Abubakar and the group of 5-PDP Governors made up of Governor Dr. Samuel Ortom of Benue state, Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu state, Governor , Engr. Seyi Makinde of Oyo state, Governor Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia state and the master mind of the agitation, Chief Barrister Nyesom Ezenwo Wike Governor of Rivers state.
The bone of contention is the request that the National chairman of the party Dr. Iyorchu Ayu should resign from office to pave way for a Southern National Chairman of the party since the Presidential candidate of the party hails from Northern part of the country. While the Presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar it was reported never admitted the timing of the change of leadership in the constitution of National Executives of the party at a time a bigger challenge such as the coming February 25th, 2023 Presidential election is already close. Again, Atiku Abubakar as an experienced politician wanted to deliver his party first through the rigours of electioneering campaign while any changes in the constitution of the party will be strictly adhered to following the legal framework of the party machinery.
However, on Friday, 11th of November, 2022 the G-5 PDP governors flew into the Coal city of Enugu for a brief meeting after their presence at Makurdi Benue state capital where they participated in PDP Flag Off of Campaign for the party’s candidates in the 2023 General elections. The need for a formidable political family is needed at a time when the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC are talking tough in retaining power at the centre after a disastrous 7 and half years of maladministration in the affairs of the country from 2015 to 2023.
