IHO DIMEZE’S DEMOCRATIC PROCESS DEEPENS WITH RELEASE OF CANDIDATES’ LIST

The stage is now set for the forthcoming 2026 election of the Iho Dimeze Town Union (IDTU), following the official release of the list of prospective candidates by the Electoral Committee.

In a statement issued by the Electoral Committee Chairman, Professor Anderson Chidi Amadioha, the committee confirmed that all necessary preparations have been concluded to ensure a smooth, credible, and transparent electoral process.

Further details from the committee indicate that most positions, particularly in the Abroad category, are largely unopposed.

Notably, the position of President General remains unopposed, with Barr. Augustine Chuks Njoku, a retired Controller of the Nigerian Correctional Service (formerly Nigerian Prisons Service), emerging as the sole candidate. He is followed by the Vice President General, Mr. Chukwudi Osuji, who is also returned unopposed.

Similarly, the Secretary General, Mr. Charles Obiyo, is unopposed, while the Financial Secretary, Mr. Okechukwu Iwuji, has no challenger. The Treasurer, Mr. Anyagwa Akolam, is equally unopposed, just as the Public Relations Officer (PRO), Mr. Egbujor Dennis, and the Provost, Mr. Udeh Kelechi, who have all emerged without opposition.

However, the Home category presents a keenly contested race for the position of Chairman, where two prominent sons of Iho Dimeze—Chief Bethel Iwuajoku and Mr. Henshaw Uchegbu—are set to face off in what observers describe as the most competitive seat in the election.

All other positions in the Home segment are unopposed. These include: Vice Chairman, Mr. Darlington Unogu; Secretary, Chief Maxwell Udeh; Vice Secretary, Mr. Cyprian Amadi; Financial Secretary, Mr. Patrick Osuji; Treasurer, Mr. Christian Ejimadu; Public Relations Officer (PRO), Mr. John Amajioyi; and Provost, Apostle Ebere Sopurum.
