AMBO AMANDA ANTIGHA, SOUTHERN BRITISH HIGH SCHOOL EMERGES 2024 OVERALL BEST IN NATIONAL MATHEMATICS COMPETITION IN LAGOS
The much rated 2024 National Mathematics Competition recently concluded with the emergence of Miss Ambo Amanda Antigha as the overall Best participant with the score of 50/50 which brought accolades and honour to her Calabar Cross River state based Southern British High School. She took part in the Junior Secondary School category among other participants in the National Mathematics Tournament held at Lagos, Lagos state. The competition was organized by Catalyst Consulting Limited Lagos and featured secondary schools across the country
While in the Senior Secondary schools’ category, Davies Richard Zikora Osuji of Tantua International Group of schools in Rivers state with a score of 50/50.This was followed by Oladimgbo Abdrinwo Samuel of Tinakass School Lagos who also scored 50/50. Others include Nnabuihie Divine Chibuihe of Academic Planet School in Abia State with the score of 48/50 as Akintola Samuel O of Benaiah Academy FCT Abuja scored 48/50. Ezenwoko Zara Valerie of Deeper Life High School Akwa Ibom state scored 48/50 in the National Mathematics competition.
Southern British High School Calabar, Cross River state with best performance in the Junior Secondary school category where Ambo Amanda Antigha took the centre stage in overall best result also saw other participants such as St. Gregory College Lagos, Barakat College Oyo state and Loyola Jesuit Memorial College Port Harcourt Rivers state in the second and third positions respectively. Southern British High School has been noted for its high academic reputation and excellence in the having high profile result from external academic competitions such as in December 2023 when the institution came top among 1,200 participants with Southern British High School being the overall best and won the coveted prize money of Three Hundred Thousand Naira (N300,000.00) in Essay Competition which was organized by Federal Consumer Protection Commission.
The Southern British High School has as its Executive Director, Dr. (Mrs.) Oluwaseun Fakorede who upon getting the news about the high academic performance of the school she heads said it is not surprising because the school is noted for quality members of faculty with special dedication to curricula with decent environment which aids learning and teaching. In her own words she said “The victory is an eloquent testimony of what we are doing in Southern British High School given our curricula which are carefully crafted to meet national and global standards in Education.” Currently Southern British High School Calabar, Cross state is Nigeria’s best Junior Secondary School in Mathematics at that level as she promised to maintain and improve upon the standard so far reached while promising to do better in further external academic competitions where her school will win more laurels.
