The glittering skyline of Dubai provided the perfect backdrop for a moment of Nigerian pride as the Honourable Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Chief (Barr.) Nyesom Ezenwo Wike, CON, POS (Africa), Life Bencher, once again proved his mettle on the global stage. At the 2025 Asia Pacific Cities Summit and Mayors’ Forum, a prestigious gathering of leaders and innovators shaping the cities of tomorrow, Wike’s voice rang with authority, insight, and conviction — earning him resounding applause from the international audience.

The summit, held in the heart of the United Arab Emirates, brought together city mayors, policymakers, and development experts from across the Asia-Pacific region and beyond. It was a forum where ideas met experience, and where the challenges of urbanization, governance, and sustainable development found solutions through dialogue. In that circle of global thinkers, Nigeria’s FCT Minister stood tall, articulating a vision for urban growth rooted in inclusivity, innovation, and accountability.

Observers described his presentation as captivating and deeply impactful. His words, drawn from years of hands-on governance experience in Rivers State and now in the nation’s capital, reflected a rare blend of technical understanding and human empathy. Delegates listened with rapt attention as Wike spoke of cities not just as physical spaces but as living communities — where planning must meet the real needs of people. His delivery, charged with his characteristic confidence and eloquence, reminded the audience why he remains one of Nigeria’s most magnetic political figures.

Back home, his stellar outing stirred waves of admiration and celebration. Chief Tony C. Okocha, KSC, JP, DSSRS, Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Rivers State, who was in Dubai with FCT Abuja Minister Nyesom Ezenwo Wike sent an emotional message of felicitation to his political leader and long-time ally. In his congratulatory note, Chief Okocha wrote, “Congratulations, Sir! On behalf of my family, I heartily salute and felicitate our Political Leader and Performing Honourable Minister of the FCT, His Excellency, Chief (Barr.) Nyesom Ezenwo Wike, on his excellent and impactful presentation at the 2025 Asia Pacific Cities Summit in Dubai.”

He described Wike’s appearance at the forum as a five-star performance — one that embodied brilliance, mastery, and substance. “Your outing not only projected Nigeria’s image positively but also reaffirmed your place as a strategic thinker, visionary leader, and global voice for sustainable urban development,” Chief Okocha stated proudly.

For many Nigerians who followed the summit’s proceedings, the event was more than a speech — it was a statement. Wike’s presence and performance symbolized the strength of leadership that Nigeria can offer the world when talent meets purpose. His ability to command international attention with clarity of thought and boldness of delivery reinforced his reputation as a man who thrives under the spotlight of responsibility. Wike was able to maneuver oral presentation of a 35- minute speech into a smart 5 minutes extemporaneous intelligent presentation with his two sons who traveled with him watching him with admiration inside the hall

In Dubai, as the cameras flashed and delegates stood in appreciation, it was clear that Chief Nyesom Wike had once again flown the Nigerian flag with dignity and distinction. To his admirers, it was yet another confirmation that leadership, when anchored on vision and courage, can transcend borders and inspire a continent.

For Chief Tony Chidugam Okocha “NYERISI! The name echoed not only in celebration but in recognition of a man who continues to turn every platform — national or international — into a stage for excellence.”
