The presiding clergy Venerable Ifeanyi Anigbaso in his homilies PREACHED about perseverance and focus as Book of John Chapter one verses 45 to 46.
The gorgeously dressed members of Nigerian League Of Women Voters led by Rivers state chapter chairperson Pastor Mrs. Ruth Davies Ibiamu filed out to the altar of the church with Thanksgiving products of cartons of beverages, and other items.
The elated women immediately after the Thanksgiving activities converged at the residence of state Chairperson Mrs Ruth Davies Ibiamu at Old GRA Port Harcourt where they reviewed the activities of the association in 2024 and projections for 2025. Thereafter there were enough beverages and sumptuous delicacies as the host fetes Nigerian League of Women Voters Rivers state chapter with much conviviality.
Speaking to journalists at the sideline Mrs. Ibiamu said ” We came to Church to rededicate ourselves to the Lord for Him to direct us in all we do this year. This implies that God will direct everything that we do.”
On the performance of the newly elected Local government Councils chairmen who are making the 100-Days in office and whether women have been carried along, Mrs Ibiamu said “At the beginning we noted that almost all the Vice Chairmen are women and there are two LGA Chairmen who are women. There are some Councilors that are women. Though we are expecting more for inclusiveness of women. The Chairmen are also appointing women into positions-NILOWV is one of the organizations that has benefitted. we urge them to do more.”
“most of them are doing well, they started so well for instance, i realized that in December 2024, they made sure that most people have food to eat which is what good governance is all about-knowing the needs of the your people and understanding what the people need being the dividends of democracy and good governance. So, most of them I saw giving out foodstuffs to the disabled and vulnerable people. It is a commendable one.”
For NILOWV and their activities being youth friendly she said that “Basically we focus on everything about women and not youth. That being said, i will say yes, youth are included but we still need more for the youth. There’s a lot of unemployed youth”.
The League of women voters Rivers state chapter have been sensitizing the Nigerian Voters in Rivers state as part of their civil responsibilities as Non Governmental organization.
