GOV. NYESOM WIKE MOBILIZES 200,000 SPECIAL POLITICAL AIDES IN RIVERS STATE
The Rivers state governor Nyesom Ezenwo Wike on Thursday 3rd of November,2022 inaugurated first and second batches of 200,000 Special Political Aides who hail from Rivers West and Rivers South East including Rivers East Senatorial Districts.
According to the Press statement issued by Kelvin Ebri Special Assistant to the Governor on Media Affairs, Governor Wike inaugurating them at Amiesiamaka Stadium Omagwa ,Port Harcourt charged them to relate with the Grass Roots being that they are now going to relate directly with Rivers state people. He admonished the Special Political Aides to bring to his table issues affecting Rivers people which decisions will be taken that will impact on the well-being of the people.
“Now your own is the most important because it is you that hear directly from the people. It is you that know the feelings of the people about us. It is you that will come and tell us, look, this is what my people are saying.” Governor Wike said.
According to the Press Statement governor Wike emphasized that they are the ones who will determine the decision and direction that the State and the party will take politically in the days ahead.
Continuing in his speech, he said “This is a political period, hear from the people. What are they saying. So, you’ll be able to advise the governor, so I will know what decision to take. It is you who will determine what decision the people of Rivers State will take at the end of the day.”
Before now about 319 Special Assistants at the electoral Wards and 32 Special Assistants at the 32 House of Assembly positions have been inaugurated by the Governor. He charged all these lieutenants to assist his administration in taking development directly to Rivers people.
This is coming at a time political activities is on high level with various political parties campaigning for various electoral positions in the 32- Rivers State House of Assembly seats, 13- Federal House of Representatives seats and 3- Senatorial Districts seats with that of the Governorship election all on the table to be delivered by all these over 200,000 Special Political Aides.
Our reporter gathered that these 200,000 Political Aides are now going round political units as the they mobilize voters on how to cast their votes using the INEC issued Permanent Voters Cards with voters at the specification of polling Units identifications.
Already the Peoples Democratic Party-PDP Presidential Candidate Atiku Abubakar is having power tussle with Rivers State Governor Wike since the end of the PDP Presidential Primary election was held at Abuja and the nomination of Vice President Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta State. The Rivers state governor and 4 other governors are on the trail of demanding for resignation of the National Chairman of PDP Dr. Iyorchia Ayu and have a Southern Nigeria National Chairman of the part as a way making room for equity and justice in the sharing of party offices in PDP.
