PORT HARCOURT PIDGIN ENGLISH PRODUCED NOLLYWOOD MOVIE–SLAVE WARRIOR UNVEILED
HOW WE SPENT N500M BUDGET DURING PRODUCTION–PRODUCER IBEZIMAKO ONU JUSTICE REVEALED
The most expected Afro- centric Pidgin English Language produced Movie titled Slave Warrior was on Friday 4th of April 2025 unveiled to the public at a Press Conference held at Hotel Presidential Port Harcourt , Rivers state capital Nigeria. The Occasion witnessed the presentation of the members of the crew in the cast and the production team comprising of Movie Producer and Script Writer Mr. Justice Onu Ibezimako and Co- Producer Ms. Blessing Marvel Omenka, publicist Ms. Kate Ezeigbo and her company, Desgol Entertainment Worldwide and Movie Director Mr. Alex Joseph. The movie featured key known Nollywood actors such as Segun Arinze, Mr. Gideon Okeke, Ms. Kate Ezeigbo, Ms. Tosin Adeyemi, Professor Ovunda Ihunwo and Mr. Jude Isichie.
The Movie Producer and Script writer Mr. Justice Onu Ibezimakor in his speech said that work in the movie Slave Warrior began in 2013 with audition in seven African countries and four states in Nigeria in 2023 when the search for locations of the movie sets began. He admitted that it cost more than Five Hundred Million Naira (N500m) to produce Slave Warrior movie as the .expenses keep rising each day prior to its final date of release to Movie viewers across the globe.
” Slave Warrior is a record breaking project that so many international organizations are coming to be part of” Mr. Justice Onu Ibezimakor revealed. He also said that Slave Warrior Movie has over four thousand scenes with about One Thousand and Seven Hundred and Eighty 1,0780 series that made the debut. The movie’ s content is about African culture as exhibited by the storyline with lead roles centered on use of alternative peaceful resolutions of problems as set out in the Movie which African societies were known for prior to the coming of the European Colonial adventurers who met such on ground of Africa.
The Movie Director Mr. Alex Joseph said that the movie cast created over three thousand jobs being one of the first African Movie made in Pidgin English Language. While star actor . Mr. Segun Arinze identified use of appropriate Pidgin English language as one of the challenges members of the cast encountered as it was not easy for them speaking in practical form the ordinary Pidgin English language that most Africans use daily. Professor Ovunda Ihunwo also admitted that for him growing up at Port Harcourt the location for the movie made it easier for him to blend rapidly with the Pidgin English language used in the Movie.
Majority of the speakers identified that Rivers state is a peaceful and hospitable state as they did not witnessed any kidnapping incident involving members of the crew of Slave Warrior from the starting to the final moment that they were at the various locations. They praised the choice of various location sets for the Movie as no one ever revealed it to them before they went out to the real acting that such environments exist inside Rivers state with combinations of the Atlantic Ocean scenery with mangrove vegetation and Arid region vegetation setting too all found inside Rivers state which justified the reasons Port Harcourt won over other states in Nigeria such as Jos, Enugu and other two states
