PRESIDENT MUHAMMADU BUHARI TO COMMISSION NAVY TOWN SPORTS COMPLEX AS 12TH NIGERIAN NAVY GAMES KICKS OFF AT LAGOS

The Nigerian Navy Games will on 8th of September, 2022 kick off at Nigerian Navy Sports Complex Ojo Town in Lagos from 8th to 13th of September, 2022. President Muhammadu Buhari is expected to officially flag off the event as he commissions the Nigerian Navy Sports Complex Ojo, Lagos which was reconstructed with expanded sports facilities. The Chief of Naval staff Vice Admiral Awwal Zubaire Gambo AM GSS PSC,(RSA) MTM FNIM LMUSNIFCSIS FIIPS FCAI has sent out invitations to guests and dignitaries to come and enjoy the various sporting activities put up by Nigerian navy.

The various Commands of the Nigerian Navy has mobilized officers to participate in various games both indoor and outdoor activities which include Volley ball, Football, Scrabble, Chess, Table Tennis, Lawn Tennis, Squash and other field and track events.

One of the major highlights of the 12th edition of the Naval Games is the scheduled visit by the Commander-In-Chief Nigeria Armed Forces and Executive President of Federal Republic of Nigeria Muhammadu Buhari as he will declare the 12th edition of Naval Games open.

The Navy Town Sports Complex Ojo, Lagos which is wearing a new look is equipped with state-of-the -Arts equipment which will bring the 12th naval games more excitement and expectations are rife for more talents to be discovered at the 12th naval Games. It should be recalled that during the celebration of the 66th anniversary of the Nigerian Navy, the Chief of Naval staff said that apart from performing its constitutional role of securing the maritime domain of the country, officers of the Nigerian Navy have been doing well in organized competitive sports. “The path to a strong and formidable Navy is declared in the direction the Nigerian Navy is heading under my humble watch. Consequently, as the Nigerian Navy continues to accomplish great strides in our constitutional role of ensuring that our maritime domain is secured, plans are also in place to ensure personnel are fit to sustain these achievements. As such, the Nigerian navy will continue to encourage active participation in sporting activities locally and internationally. The Nigerian Navy Female Volleyball Team, the Chief of Naval Staff Strikers, is one of the three teams representing the country in Tunisia and the performance so far has been encouraging.“

There will be award of medals and decorations of best performing sports men and women during 12th edition of Nigerian Naval Games in 2022.
