The Minister for Education, Malam Adamu Adamu on Friday 21st of May, 2021 while being represented by Minister of State For Education Barrister Chukwuemeka Nwajiuba made official announcement that Miss Kondu Ibifiribaba James Overall Best Graduating Student of Federal College of Education Technical Omoku have been offered automatic employment by Federal Ministry of Education Abuja, while directing that the concerned department should facilitate her appointment as a way of encouraging youths in the country to work hard as Nigeria offer much opportunities for them to excel in their various endeavours. This pronouncement was made during the 9th-to-18th combined Convocation ceremony for Professional Diploma in education PDE, Nigerian Certificate In Education and Bachelor’s Degrees in Education of the institution.
The Provost of FCE (Technical) OMOKU Dr. Emmanuel Ikenyiri said that the combined convocation ceremony comprises graduands of 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018 and 2019 made up of 794 Bachelors degree of University of Nigeria Nsukka an affiliate institution, 2,855 Nigerian Certificate in Education and 281 Professional Diploma In Education. The overall best graduating student Miss Kondu Ibifiribaba James completed her studies in 2019 with a First Class Honours Degree B.Sc Education in Agriculture Education made up of Cumulative Grade Point Average, CGPA 4.90. Again, she was awarded Chief J.E Ikenyiri Prize for Best Degree Graduating Student in Agriculture Education followed by another Prize award for Bro. Felix Obuah Prize for Overall Best graduating student thirdly she climbed the rostrum for College Prize for Overall Best Graduating Student First Class 4.90 CGPA. The elated Overall Best graduating student in her Valedictory speech attributed her success to the best impartation of knowledge by her lecturers especially the leadership skill of the Provost Dr. Emmanuel Ikenyiri whose administration created an enabling environment for learning.
The Convocation ceremony began with Commissioning of executed projects around the Campus II of Federal College of Education performed by Minister of State For Education Barrister Chukwuemeka Nwajiuba which included Three TETFUND building comprising of Two storey building Chief Lecturers office in Campus II, Students’ Male/Female toilets in campus II and 300 capacity ICT Centre in Campus I and New Entrance gate building in Campus II.
Currently the challenge of the menace of insecurity in the Campus II of the College was read out by the Provost as he said “The Campus II of the College along Obirikom road has no perimeter fence. The entire Campus is open thereby attracting thieves, vandals and herdsmen. Today, students, staff and cattle struggle for space in the Campus. Sometimes cattle prevent students and Lecturers from entering the Lecture halls and Classrooms. This will be curtailed if the campus is fenced. Management pleads with the Federal Government, TETFUND and NDDC to come to our aid by fencing the Campus.“
About nine new degree courses have been approved and linked with University of Uyo
Uyo In Akwa Ibom state as an affiliating institution for the following Courses English language education, Guidance and Counselling, Pre-Primary and Primary Education, Integrated Science Education, Physical Education and Health education, Political Science Education, Economics Education and Social studies Education as all the course are now enlisted in the 2020/2021 academic admission. This is a plus towards alleviating the suffering of students in accessing good quality education. In this way a total of 19 Degree programmes are being run by Federal College of Education technical Omoku with University of Nigeria Nsukka offering 10 of such Degree courses.
During the convocation ceremony the following personalities were honoured with Fellowship awards : Dame Judith Amaechi, wife Minister For Transportation and former Governor of Rivers state, Bro. Felix Obuah, the current Sole Administrator of Rivers state Waste Management Agency-RIWAMA and first SUG President and First Alumni President of FCE(T) Omoku, Dr. Christian Azubuike Oboh, former MD?CEO of Niger Delta Development Commission NDDC, His Royal Highness Eze Allen Nwaobokroha Osoh, JP Eze Ali Usomini II of Ogbaland, His Royal Majesty, King Professor Anele Uzondu Wokoma JP, Eze Egi II of Ogbaland now late and Dr. Sir Nkasiobi Silas Oguzor, former Provost FCE(T) Omoku.
