Barrister Augustine Njoku, retired Controller of Corrections, is ready to bring a new era of leadership to Iho Dimeze Autonomous Community. A son of Umuaguruihe Village in the old Amaruru Village of Iho Dimeze Town, Ikeduru Local Government Area, Njoku is stepping forward with decades of experience and a heart deeply committed to the progress of his people.
Now residing in Owerri, close to his ancestral home, Njoku is perfectly positioned to remain accessible and engaged, ensuring that the needs and aspirations of his community are always within reach.Those who know him speak of his calm demeanor, unwavering integrity, and measured approach to life. One age-grade mate recalls, “From our childhood in school to countless neighborhood interactions, I have watched Augustine’s character unfold. He is disciplined, humble, and peace-loving—a man who leads by example.”

Yet, Barrister Njoku is not one to remain passive in the face of challenges. He acknowledges the pressing leadership issues in Iho Dimeze and is prepared to step out of his naturally reserved persona. He promises a proactive, engaged, and action-oriented leadership style—one that listens, mobilizes, and delivers tangible results.
Njoku’s career is a testament to service, discipline, and professionalism. As a retired Controller of Corrections, he has exemplified integrity at every level.
A Barrister and Solicitor of the Supreme Court of Nigeria, he has served as Justice Advisor and Public Relations Officer on critical United Nations missions across Africa. His work spans judicial reforms, institutional strengthening, human rights advocacy, and post-conflict peace-building in twelve countries.

His academic accomplishments are equally impressive: a Master of Law and Diplomacy from Ahmadu Bello University, an LL.B (Hons) from the University of Jos, a Barrister at Law qualification from the Nigerian Law School, and a B.Ed (Hons) with NCE from Ahmadu Bello University. Njoku is currently pursuing an LL.M to sharpen his legal expertise further.

Throughout his professional journey, he has served as Head of the National Protocol Office, National Public Relations Officer, and a long-serving Public Relations Officer across multiple commands. In every role, Njoku has been a bridge-builder, a trusted communicator, and a leader committed to cohesion and community engagement.

For Iho Dimeze, Njoku envisions leadership that is inclusive, transparent, and development-focused—a leadership that unites villages, empowers youth, mentors women, and drives sustainable progress.
