The Rivers State Police Command has assured residents of a peaceful, secure and hitch-free Yuletide season with the emplacement of comprehensive security measures across the state, reaffirming its resolve to maintain law and order before, during and after the Christmas and New Year celebrations.
The Command disclosed that the strategy, driven by proactive policing and strong inter-agency collaboration, is aimed at ensuring that residents and visitors celebrate the season without fear or disruption. It urged the people of the state to embrace the festive period as a time for sober reflection, prayers, and renewed commitment to peace and progress in Rivers State and Nigeria at large.

Under the leadership of the Commissioner of Police, CP Olugbenga A. Adepoju, psc, mnips, the Command has rolled out a robust security architecture with the deployment of tactical and conventional police teams to strategic locations across the state, including entry and exit points, waterways, motor parks, hotels, recreation centres, churches, mosques and identified flashpoints. The deployment is designed to ensure visibility policing, enhance intelligence-led surveillance and guarantee swift response to any security threat.
The Commissioner of Police has further directed all Area Commanders and Divisional Police Officers to deploy all available operational and intelligence assets within their respective areas of responsibility to ensure a seamless and incident-free festive celebration.
The Command is also intensifying community engagement through collaboration with traditional rulers, youth groups and religious leaders to foster trust, boost public confidence and encourage timely intelligence sharing aimed at preventing crime during the festive period.
Speaking on behalf of the Command, the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Grace Iringe-Koko, ANIPR, said comprehensive security measures had been put in place to protect lives and property. She noted that officers have been deployed across highways, waterways, worship centres and recreational locations to ensure public safety.
She added that collaboration with sister security agencies had been strengthened to ensure a coordinated and effective response to any security challenge that may arise during the festivities.
SP Iringe-Koko advised parents and guardians to caution their children against the use of fireworks, pyrotechnics and knockout shooting, warning that such acts pose serious risks to lives and property.
Reaffirming the Command’s commitment to public safety, residents were urged to remain vigilant, secure their homes, promptly report suspicious activities and avoid spreading unverified information capable of causing panic.
Emergency concerns can be reported via the Control Room on 08032003514 or the Complaint Response Unit on 08120822987.
