THE SIGNIFICANCE OF IKWERRE ROAD MILE 4 IN PORT HARCOURT CITY AND THE WIKE FAMILY


The Mile 4 area along Ikwerre Road in Port Harcourt city has a rich history and demographics. The community is predominantly inhabited by migrants from Arochukwu in Abia State.

Arochukwu Influence
The Arochukwu people dominate the area, engaging in furniture construction and trading. The late Paramount Ruler, Nye nwe Eli Rumueme Eze Omunakwe Nsirim, who raised FCT Minister Nyesom Wike as a foster father, was considered an indigene of Arochukwu.

Wike Family Background
Wike’s family house is located near a motor park that loads passengers to the southeastern part of Nigeria. Rumuepirikom town, where Wike’s family resides, is part of the Obio/Akpor Local Government Area.

Rumuepirikom Town
Rumuepirikom town lacks a government primary school, with the nearest one located near the Palace of Nye nwe Eli Rumueme Eze Omunakwe Nsirim. Saint John Anglican Church is opposite the school, and Saint Peter’s Anglican Church Rumuepirikom is near Wike’s village family house by Whimpey Junction Mile 4.

Wike’s Projects
Wike constructed a flyover and a highbrow cardiological and cancer diagnostic center named after Dr. Peter Odili, the former governor of Rivers State. Recently, he built a flyover in front of his newly acquired palatial country home at Kpakani community along Ada George Expressway Mile 4 Port Harcourt City, Rivers State.

The highlights of Wike’s properties, including :A reconstructed duplex on the site of his parents’ former bungalow hous ; A palatial country home with a Tactical Police Unit and a Police Station at Kpakani community opposite The Carpenters’ Church Mile 4 along Ada George Expressway.

Controversies Surrounding Wike
The controversies surrounding Wike, including his alleged fallout with his biological father and the deposition of Eze Anthony Owabie, who lives next to Wike’s traditional family house.
