RIVERS STATE APC STAKEHOLDERS PASS VOTES OF CONFIDENCE ON PRESIDENT TINUBU, TONY OKOCHA, WIKE & GIADOM
The Rivers state chapter of All Progressives Congress APC had at its Stakeholders meeting held on Wed 21st of August 2014 passed votes of confidence on President Bola Tinubu, Caretaker Committee Chairman Chief Tony Okocha, Leader of Renewed Hope Agenda in Rivers state and FCT Abuja Minister Nyesom Wike and South South geo-political Chairman Dr. Victor GIADOM. Rising from the well attended Stale holders meeting which took place at the Party’s State Secretariat Aba Expressway Port Harcourt took several firm decisions which included the boycott of the 5th October 2024 Rivers state Local Government Council Election. The party alleged negligence of the Rivers state independent Electoral Commission Rivsiec,as APC in Rivers state was not invited for the Stakeholders meeting organized by Rivsiec a process it alleged to took decisions on the preparations for the 5th October 2024 Local Government Council Election. Chief Tony Okocha who addressed the teeming enthusiastic members gave reasons why his party will not be part of the election as the processes have been marred by breach of the electoral laws of Rivers state on Local Government Council administration based electoral processes. He said that the processes ought to have started 30 Days prior to the expiration date of the tenure of the last administration. But this and other things were not followed.
He maintained that his party is currently challenging Rivsiec at the court with one of the prayers for the election not to be held because it lacks transparent processes and the outcome of the votes to be cast already compromised by the ruling party in the state. He quickly revealed that even the ruling political party will not be participating in the election.
The gathering of the stale holders saw the return to APC of key top politicians as Distinguished Senator Magnus Ngei Abe who sent in his apologies for not being in the country, Elder Chidi Whioka also made a cr back to APC after a short stay with Social Democratic party SDP, Senator Wilson Asinobi Ake, Honourable Chief Ojukaiye Flag Amachree, Honourable Michael West, Honourable Irene Inimgba, Dame Maureen Tamuno who couldn’t get to the venue due to flight disruption schedule to PORT Harcourt. Honourable Barrister Wogu Boms a former Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice under Former Gov. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi, others include Elder Sovens Akari former political ally of Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi, Honourable Augustine Nwokocha former Commissioner under Gov Amaechi and several Rivers state political heavy weights all showed up for the Stakeholders meeting organized under the Caretaker Committee Chairman Chief Tony Okocha who National Working Committee had recognized as the Acting Chairman of APC in Rivers state.
