DETAILS OF 2024 WAEC SENIOR SECONDARY SCHOOL CERTIFICATES RESULTS, WITHHOLDS OVER 215,267
The West African Examinations Council-WAEC on Monday 12th of August,2024 released the results for its May/June West African senior Secondary schools’ certificate Examination for the school candidates WASSCE 2024. The examination body in a statement via X handle posted on Monday 12th August,2024 which read “The West African Examinations Council is pleased to inform candidates who sat WASSCE for school candidates,2024 that the result has officially been released today, Monday, August 12,2024.”
From the records the examination was taken by One million Eight Hundred and Fourteen Thousand Three hundred and Forty-Four (1,814,344) candidates in 22,229 secondary schools across Nigeria.
The statistics indicate that out of 1.8m students, 902,328 representing 49.73 percent are males while 912,016 are females representing 50.27 percent of total candidates.
1.8million candidates were examined in 76 subjects comprising 197 papers with 30,000 secondary school teachers supervised the examination. About 215,267 results are withheld from records.
About 1,301,949 candidates obtained credits in English language and mathematics in the May/June 2024 examination. The Head of Nigeria organ of WAEC Amos Dangut announced. He stated that 1,685,885 candidates accounting for 93.9 percent had their results released while insecurity marred the conduct of the examinations in some areas of the country with a total of 1, 805,216 as those who registered for the examination.
Given the release of the 2024 WASSCE results, most applicants for admissions into tertiary institutions will have a reprieve as they await placements into Universities and Polytechnics and colleges of education across the nation.
