IMO STATE HOUSE OF ASSEMBLY RANKING MEMBER, HON. JOHNSON DURU HOSTS NATIONAL SECONDARY SCHOOL NTUEKE OLD STUDENTS’ ASSOCIATION EXECUTIVE AT OWERRI
Wednesday 12th of June 2024 the Old Students’s Association of National Secondary School Ntueke in Ideato South Local Government Area of Imo state paid a scheduled courtesy visit to one of their members Honourable Engineer Johnson Duru who is currently representing the good people of Ideato South state constituency at the 10th Imo state House of Assembly. The group led by its National President Dr. Emmanuel Nwosu a Senior Lecturer and Director of Sports at kingsley Ozurumba Mbadiwe University-KOMU located at Ogboko town in Ideato South LGA of Imo state and Elder Evaristus Abamara as Deputy National President including National PRO Emeka Ezeasoibe and national Secretary Elder Ohanuka Chinedu alias BBC and others who were co-opted including veteran Journalist Mr. Emeka Amaefula, Mr. Mgbobi Chikezie and Honourable Chief Anugwara Benneth were all present at the luxurious country home of Honourable Engr. Johnson Duru located at serene Amakohia Road opposite Federal Medical Centre FMC Federal University of Technology Owerri Teaching Hospital where he played host to his Schoolmates most of whom he met last in more than 42 years ago as an Old student of National Secondary School Ntueke.
It is on record that Honourable Johnson Duru although trained in Engineering and Architecture has been so compassionate in bringing positive changes not only to his physical environment but on the socio-economic wellbeing of his fellow human beings who as a Local Government Council Chairman of Ideato South LGA he effected positive changes that transformed both the social infrastructure and human capital development of the youths and the elderly. It was on his resounding performance that earned him elevation to be elected into the 9th Imo state House of Assembly and re-election into the 10th Imo state House of Assembly thus qualifying him as a ranking member. But if you think that his re-election was easy, wait until you get details of how Hon. Duru reclaimed his political mandate from his opponents as a Member of All Progressives Congress APC. It was that rare love by his good people of Ideato South LGA that voted overwhelmingly for Honourable Engr. Johnson Duru also made his Imo state House of Assembly Election Petition Tribunal to rule in his favour even at the Appellate level.
Most good things come with tribulations and adversities which strong men of goodwill mostly triumph over as Honourable Iheonukara Johnson did..
Based on the prevailing above circumstances the Old Students’ Association of national Secondary School Ntueke took the firm decision to identify with one of their own doing well in the political landscape of Imo state changing and bringing renewed hope to his people. In his remark during the presentation of a giant Portrait of Honourable Duru made by the NSSNOSA, the National President Dr. Emmanuel Nwosu alias Mehalah a 1979 set, said that the Courtesy was double fold, and laced with both happiness over his recent election victory and all the contributions the lawmaker has been making towards the realization of progress in the activities of the organization especially his twice playing host during the Annual General Meetings-AGM. And for identifying and allying with the host for his future political aspirations.
In his response Hon. Duru was very much elated with the Giant sized Portrait of his which came from his alma mater. He also pledged to continue rendering service to humanity especially at a higher level with the call by his Ideato nation comprising both Ideato South and Ideato North Local Government Areas who are calling him to contest for the 2027 Ideato Federal Constituency in the Federal House of Representatives, Abuja. He also led his association to a weekly House fellowship Meeting which he plays host to every Wednesday of the week. In his sermon the presiding Pastor took a very touching sermon with the topic “Putting God First” which resonated with a lot of testimonies by the congregants and Honourable Duru’s follow-up admonition on putting God first in every area of one’s life for God never forgets those who worship him in truth and honesty. He asked his school mates to join him in seeking the face of God in his next political project of answering the call by his good people for effective representation at the Federal House of representatives come 2027. The meeting ended up with conviviality and reminiscence of old school stories and recounting how to abide by the goals and objectives of the association.
