The new Representative of Rivers state at the Governing Board of Niger Delta Development Commission-NDDC, Honourable Chief Tony Okocha DSSRS, Ksc, JP on Tuesday 19th of March 2024 played host to over 200 registered Contractors and Consultants with projects located in Rivers state at the NDDC Rivers state office located along Olu Obasanjo Road Port Harcourt. It was an interactive programme that was innovative in nature with contractors and Consultants telling their own stories and exchanged ideas on how best to harness the opportunities and overcome challenges in the execution of the awarded projects sited inside Rivers state environment.

Chief Tony Okocha in his speech informed the congregants that the meeting was called at the instance of the management and Board of Niger delta development Commission NDDC headed by the Chairman Barrister Chiedu Ebie, and with managing director and Chief Executive Officer Dr. Samuel Ogbuku as he called on contractors to return to sites as they will be given due attention. He therefore reiterated the need for the contractors and consultants to shun doing shoddy and substandard jobs. This came on the heels of the development interventionist agency having several hundreds of uncompleted jobs as he warned the contractors that the 7th Governing Board members and the management team of NDDC is determined to deal ruthlessly with erring contractors.

And which he attributed to have caused delay in completion of awarded contracts in the Niger Delta region. The Contractors in their submissions also pleaded with Mr. President to remove NDDC from TSA as this is going to be the best approach for early job completion
