REAL REASONS WHY RIVERS STATE GOV. SIMINIALAYI FUBARA ENDORSED PRESIDENT TINUBU’S PRESIDENTIAL PROCLAMATION OF 8-POINTS RESOLUTION OF RIVERS CRISIS

Rivers state Governor Sir Siminialayi Fubara has been speaking about peace and even development of Rivers state at every forum and he has been following up with peaceful resolution of the political crisis in the state. Not many Nigerians will understand the background of the peaceful disposition of Rivers state Governor Siminialayi Joseph Fubara and what led him to accept all the 8-points President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Presidential Proclamation. First is the fact that he was brought up by a father who was a Nigerian trained Soldier and who trained his son Sir Siminialayi Joseph Fubara to take to disciplinary measures whenever faced with difficult situations and the result of his calm mien and quiet outlook all stem from this deep background of being the son of a Nigerian Soldier. For those who may know, Sir Simiminialayi Fubara is not a coward and does not fear anybody but respects constituted authorities at all times due to his father’s unfiltered transfer of discipline, respect and obedience to superior leaders while on duty post. Behind all these are his iron fixed mental agility of being result oriented and well-focused in any assignment that he undertakes.

When he was announced as the Rivers state PDP Governorship candidate after the much-contested Governorship Primary election held at Obi Wali Conference Centre Port Harcourt he was accused of not being a smooth talker like most politicians and those who had come across this quiet young man never anticipated his inert ability to challenge what may not fall into normal circumstance to the development of the state. It was on this note when it was alleged that he started asking questions about certain things and certain financial transactions as a trained Accountant that his ‘erroneous superintendent’ got worried about getting their structures about to be upturned.

Yes, the mantra of his Government from his inaugural speech on May 29th 2023 to date has remained Consolidation and continuity from where his predecessor must have stopped in his developmental programmes for Rivers state. It is a known fact that Sir Siminialayi Fubara is eloquent, calm and with deep mental reflexes to adjust his thought pattern whenever he is confronted with superior opinion in any matter. The Minister for Federal capital Territory Nyesom Ezenwo Wike after the first private meeting brokered by President Tinubu he was accused of not implementing wholly all that were agreed upon between him and his political godfather. The reasons may not be unconnected with his interests in Rivers people whose mandate he is holding firm as he rightly promised “We cannot surrender our mandate” which is a wake-up call for the youths of Rivers state to understand that for Rivers state to meet up with the rest of developed states in the federation peace is paramount. After returning home from Abuja Proclamation by President Tinubu he kept mute while instructing his followers to accept peace as there’s no amount of sacrifice too great for him to undertake for peace in Rivers state to thrive.

In his well acclaimed Christmas Peace Message to Rivers state people he stated thus: “I have said before, there is no price too much to pay for peace. And with the realization that the worst that the worst peace is better than the best war, we will strive to make peace with all segments and interest groups without surrendering our freedom nor jeopardizing the interest and well-being of the good people of Rivers state who graciously entrusted us with their cherished mandate.”  This speech made on Christmas Day by Governor Fubara really became President Tinubu’s best message that he received while enjoying his Christmas vacation at his Lagos Home where he met with 20 state Governors.

Again during his Cross Over Church service at Opobo town Governor Fubara reassured Rivers people about his reasons for accepting the 8-Points Presidential Proclamation for there is no sacrifice he will not make so as to ensure that peace prevails in the state and that he still signs with the Red Biro one of symbols of his official identification as Governor of Rivers state.
