2023 PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION PETITION TRIBUNAL JUDGMENT SETS NIGERIA ON EDGE

The Nation is on edge waiting for Wednesday 6th September 2023 pronouncement of the 5-man Judges who have sat and taken judicial hearings on the 2023 Presidential election that had Bola Ahmed Tinubu as the President. His challengers are Atiku Abubakar of Peoples democratic Party-PDP and Peter Gregory Obi of Labour Party LP there is Allied Peoples Movement-APM also challenging the outcome of the Presidential election of February 25th, 2023.

On Monday 4th of September, 2023 the Chief Registrar Court of Appeal Umar M Bangari, Esq. issued a Press statement titled “Presidential election Petition Judgment to be delivered On Wednesday 6th September, 2023 and televised Live.” The Cases to be decided include CA/PEPC/03/2023 between Mr. Peter Gregory Obi and Independent National Electoral Commission and 3 others; CA/PEPC/04/2023 between Allied Peoples Movement Vs Independent National Electoral commission and 3 others and CA/PEPC/05/2023 between Abubakar Atiku and Another Vs Independent Electoral Commission.

The 5-man Presidential election Petition Tribunal had remained silent after the final address by parties in the case and the tension it generated across the country with different groups mounting billboards with inscriptions “Eyes On Judiciary”. And the social media space in Nigeria had been filled with bullying and arguments by various interest groups supporting most of the parties in the case.

With the sudden announcement by the Chief Registrar tension and anxiety had enveloped the entire nation.
