RIVERS STATE GOVERNOR WIKE PRESENTS STAFF OF OFFICE TO 1ST CLASS OGBA KINGDOM MONARCH OBA, EZE-OGBA OF OGBALAND
With the demise of Oba (Eze-Ogba) of Ogbalnad, His Eminence Chukumela Nnam Obi II, another king had emerged His Eminence Oba, Eze Ogba of Ogbaland Barrister Dr. Nwachuku Obuoha Nnam Obi III whose traditional staff of Office has been recognized by Rivers state Governor Nyesom Ezenwo Wike had officially presented Staff of Office and certificate of recognition to the monarch. The 1st Class monarch has one of the most respected traditional stools in Nigeria as his predecessor was coronated in 1970 and he reigned for 50-years as Nigeria’s longest Monarch until his death few years ago.
But there was palpable tension in the Ogba kingdom as it is statutory for a serving Governor to during Coronation ceremony present Staff of Office to the new King with proclamation Certificate of Recognition signifying that in accordance to the extant Laws of Rivers state that His Eminence Oba Eze-Ogba of Ogbaland is now taking full control of his Kingdom which he has no rivalry.
On Tuesday, 10th of January, 2023 at Banquet Hall of Government House Port Harcourt the brief ceremony was performed as the Rivers state governor said that the Monarch was recognized by the state Government the day he was crowned as Oba Eze ogba of Ogbaland as he stated that presentation of Staff of Office and Certificate of recognition are mere ceremony to affirm what was done in accordance to the traditional setting of the people of Ogbaland.
Governor Wike used the opportunity of being the traditional father to promote peace, unity and harmony among his people while he admonished the king to dissuade the youths in his domain to refrain from any act that will disrupt peace and threaten economic activities in the kingdom.
Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni Local Government Area being the host Local Government Council of the Ogba kingdom is rich with hydrocarbon natural resources including Crude Oil and associated natural gas which has been contributing to the income of Nigeria.
In response to Governor Wike’s speech, His Royal Eminence (Dr.) Nwachukwu S. Obuoha Obi III, Oba (Eze Ogba) of Ogbaland said only God Makes kings in Ogbaland as he is grateful to have found himself to be on the saddle of traditional rulership of his people of Ogbaland and pledged to serve them faithfully. He thanked Governor Wike for his support since the demise of his late father having appraised the quality leadership being offered the good people of rivers state by governor Wike whose political influence and power has travelled across the world.
In his 2023 New Year message to his people Oba Eze-Ogba has admonished his subjects to remain law abiding and shun any act that will not promote peace. He called on the Prophets to stay away from false prophesies in 2023 which will destabilize the incoming elections of 2023 as it had done in the past. His Eminence Barr. (Dr.) Nwachuku Obuoha nnam Obi III, urged his people of Ogba to collect their Permanent Voters cards-PVC and remain law abiding during and after the general elections in 2023.
