INSPECTOR GENERAL OF POLICE USMAN ALKALI ORDERS MAXIMUM SECURITY IN NIGERIAN SCHOOLS

Given the onslaught on several killings and security infractions across the country especially those affecting schools and colleges, the Inspector General of Police IGP Usman Alkali Baba has taken deep scrutiny in securing the entire country with the recent announcement that more Police personnel and operational logistics be deployed to those affected areas. He gave this hint at the Management meeting of the Forces management Team held at the IGP Conference Hall on Tuesday 19th April, 2022 at Federal Capital Territory FCT, Abuja.

The need to secure boarding schools, tertiary institutions and colleges and proximities prone to insecurity and breach of security it was gathered led to the need to forestall occurrence of kidnapping and isolated incidence of insecurity around the institutions. Based on the foregoing, the IGP issued out directive to all state Commissioners of Police and Tactical Commanders including Supervising Assistant Inspector General of Police AIGs to effectively come out with best security arrangement that will put to an end insecurity of life and property around the Schools, Colleges and surrounding communities that host such institutions.

However, the IGP equally asked the personnel of Force Criminal Investigations department and Intelligence Bureau to deploy its detectives cum operatives to sustaining its mandatory roles in surveillance and intelligence gathering within the institutions and its environs as Police Airwing has been directed to increase its aerial patrol within the six geo-political zones of the country.

According to the press statement signed by CSP Olumuyiwa Adejobi Force Public Relation Officer PPRO, “The Inspector GP Police General of Police therefore assured that all hands will be on deck to ensure a safe environment for all pupils and students in the various schools and colleges of learning within the country.”
