PEOPLES DEMOCRATIC PARTY SET DATES FOR PARTY DELEGATE CONGRESSES, ELECTION OF 2023 CANDIDATES GENERAL ELECTIONS
The national opposition party Peoples Democratic Party of Nigeria PDP has set out dates for Wards, Local Government Areas and State Congresses culminating with National Congress leading to the election of delegates and that party sponsored candidates for various electoral offices in the State House of Assembly, House of Representatives, Senate and that of governorship position and Presidential candidate emergence for the 2023 general elections.
On Saturday April 23rd 2022 Ward congresses that will elect 3-man Ad hoc delegates, one of which must be a woman will be conducted. On Friday, April 29th, 2022 Local Government Area Congress shall be held in which one National Delegate shall be elected per Local Government Area.
On Thursday, May 5th, 2022 publication of Delegates List shall be made to enlighten members on the authentic delegates from each state of the federation. On Saturday May 7th, 2022 There shall be State House of assembly Primaries across the 36-states of the Federation. This will be followed with the House of Representatives Primary election which shall be held on Thursday May 12th, 2022.
On May 14th, 2022 there shall be Senatorial election of candidates to be Flagbearers of PDP across the 109 Senatorial Districts in Nigeria in the 36 states of the federation with Federal Capital Territory-FCT Abuja inclusive.
Then comes Saturday 21st of May, 2022 which is the climax of the election of gubernatorial candidates in the majority of the 36-states excluding Osun and Bayelsa states that have varying election date schedules. Then on Saturday May 28 to Sunday May 29th, 2022 the Presidential candidate of Peoples Democratic Party-PDP shall emerge. As there will be a presentation of Certificates of return to the candidates who have successfully emerged from the various electoral positions.
PDP in an effort to have a rancour free party primary election have come out with a 37- member Zoning Committee with Benue state Governor Samuel Ortom as Chairman. His emergence came during the first meeting of the committee held at Abuja after its inauguration by the National Party Chairman Dr. Iyorchia Ayu. The Minority Leader of the House of Representatives Ndudi Elumelu was elected as the Deputy Chairman of the Committee. The committee had rescheduled its meeting to hold next week Tuesday for further deliberations on zoning of party electoral offices across the federation.
