The Vice President if United States of America Kamala Harris earlier today spoke about her endorsement as a probable Democratic Party Presidential candidate by President Joe Biden for the 2024 PRESIDENTIAL election race cone November 5th ,2024. The much talked about 2024 United States of America presidential election has earlier last week seen Republican party during its National Republican Convention NRC that produced former President Donald Trump as the candidate if the arty with running mate Senator JD Vance as his running mate nominee. Donald Trump had on Saturday 13th of July 2024 narrowly escaped attempted assassination while on. Campaign trail in Pennsylvania.
On Sunday 21st of July,2024, the 81 years old President Joe Biden while undergoing isolation due to Covid 19, at his Beach resort in Delaware home announced via X handle his decision to step aside from the 2024 Democratic party Presidential nomination as he endorsed his Vice President Ms Kamala Harris as his choice for Democratic party Presidential nominee.
“While it has been my intention to seek re- election, I believe it is in the best interest of my party and the country for me to stand down and focus solely on fulfilling my duties as President for the remainder of my term” President Joe Biden stated.
The Democratic party had been troubled with the decision to urge President Biden to step aside which somehow polarized the top-notch hierarchy of Democratic party including how his candidacy will impact negatively to the electoral Fortunes of key. Democrats, more especially the swing battleground states where his challenger former President Donald Trump is holding seat in independent Opinion Polls. Hence former President Barack Obama, George Clooney were in the background nudging President Joe Biden to step aside for the Democratic party Presidential nomination bid.
This laid Credence to the historic list of US Presidents who threw in the towel after serving for first term in office and facing car critical moments especially in 1968 when the then President Lyndon Johnson stepped down for the Presidential election as he endorsed his Vice President Hubert Humphrey who lost to Richard Nixon.
For Vice President Kamala Harris, this is a chance she will battle for nomination at the August 2024 Democratic party National Convention with the already endorsements coming from the former President Bill Clinton and his wife Hillary Clinton and other supposed contenders to the coveted Democratic party Presidential nomination slit for the race to the Oval office in 2024.
